Low Testosterone Testosterone levels in men can decline with age. This has been called "male menopause" and "andropause". It falls under a syndrome called hypogonadism and can start as early as 40 years of age. The symptoms of low testosterone include fatigue, low libido, erectile dysfunction, muscle loss, weight gain, sleep disorders, osteoporosis (bone loss) and memory loss. Low testosterone can be diagnosed with a history & physical and blood work to look for decreased testosterone. Fortunately, hypogonadism is very treatable with testosterone replacement. Medications such as Androgel, Testim, Testoderm and injection therapy are widely available. |
